CRYSTAL PALACE under-21s clash with Leicester on Monday was abandoned due to a horror injury to Joe Sheridan.
The defender was rushed hospital after fracturing his fibula during the Premier League 2 match.
As a result, the fixture was abandoned after 86 minutes at the Leicester training ground.
Palace have confirmed the rest of the match could not be fulfilled as there was not an additional ambulance crew present after Sheridan had been taken to hospital.
The status of the fixture will be confirmed at a later time, the club confirmed.
In a club statement, Palace explained: “Joe is in good spirits with his family and will be returning to London today to continue his recovery and to undergo further assessment of his injury.”
Palace also thanked Leicester’s medical staff, the paramedics and NHS staff at Leicester Royal Infirmary, as well as wishing Sheridan well in his recovery.
The Eagles had taken the lead during the first half through Luke Plange, before Will Alves equalised for the hosts.
20-year-old centre-back Sheridan is a graduate of Palace’s academy and was promoted to the under-21 side in 2022.
He has made 11 appearances so far this season across the PL2 and the EFL Trophy.
