A SCHOOLBOY has tragically died after being knocked down by a bin lorry this morning while riding his bike.
Emergency crews raced to the scene at Whitehouse Road, in Edinburgh, this morning.

Officers also scrambled to the area after receiving reports of the smash at around 8.20am.
Shortly after they arrived at the scene, they found an 11-year-old boy injured.
But he was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
The young boy was cycling along Whitehouse Road when he was hit at the junction with Braehead Road.
The driver of the bin lorry was uninjured.
Police locked down a stretch of the busy road in both directions earlier today.
Photos show at least eight police vehicles, including vans and cars, parked on the road.
Blue tape has also sealed off the area with a handful of officers guarding the area.
A large blue bin lorry also appears to be sealed off and an ambulance was also spotted on the street.
Officers have launched a probe into the incident to establish the circumstances around the death.
They have urged anyone who may have seen something to come forward and speak with officers.
They are also keen to speak with anyone who may have dashcam or CCTV footage of the area from around the time of the crash.
Inspector Andrew Thomson, of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are very much with the boy’s family and friends at this time.
“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I would urge anyone who may have information which has not yet been passed to Police to get in touch.
“I would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam or private CCTV footage from the area.
“Specially trained officers are supporting the family at this time.
“Anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident 0578 of 1 March, 2024.”
