All the people on board the small plane were killed, officials said.

The aircraft was trying to execute an emergency landing at John C. Tune Airport but landed near Interstate 40.

The pilot told air traffic control crews that the plane wouldn’t make the airport.

“That impact was catastrophic and did not leave any survivors,” Kendra Loney, of the Nashville Fire Department, said.

The plane landed near a Costco warehouse and was just three miles away from the airport.

Officials said they’re relieved the plane didn’t hit any buildings as it hurtled to the ground.

Fire crews revealed that there were no injuries on the ground.

Officials from the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating.

Crews have been pictured at the scene surveying the mangled wreckage.

Lanes on Interstate 40 were closed following the crash.

Drivers have been warned of delays on Tuesday morning.

It’s not known where the plane is from.

The victims have not yet been identified.
