A THUG who walked free from court after leaving his ex with horror injuries is finally behind bars after her brave legal fight.
Jasmine Davis, 23, was left with imprints of Jack Hartland’s ring on her eye after he launched into a savage attack at home in Coventry.

The 23-year-old strangled Jasmine and repeatedly punched her as she desperately screamed for help.
Her horror ordeal only ended when a neighbour rushed in to grab Jasmine’s son and called police.
Despite the brutal nature of the attack, Hartland walked free from court with a two-year community sentence.
Determined Jasmine fought against his soft sentence and he was eventually jailed for three years at the Court of Appeal.
The mum said: “Jack made my life hell for over two years and to think he’d practically got off scot-free, was a joke.
“He could’ve blinded me.
“I feel justice was finally served, seeing him receive a custodial for what he did to me.
“I now want other survivors of abuse to know they have the option to appeal sentences.”
Jasmine first started dating Hartland in February 2020 and says at first he was caring and attentive.
Jack became violent, pulling my hair and kicking me when he was angry.

But when she fell pregnant with their son the following year, the couple argued all the time.
Jasmine said when she suffered badly with morning sickness, Hartland became annoyed the attention was not on him.
He also failed to take care of their son when he was born and would brand Jasmine a “terrible mother”.
The pair eventually moved from her parent’s home into their own place but the relationship soon turned violent.
Jasmine said: “Jack became violent, pulling my hair and kicking me when he was angry.”
During one attack, Jasmine filmed Hartland yanking her arms back as their son cried in the background.
But the mum “felt trapped” and began covering her bruises from her family.
In October 2022 as the couple celebrated their son’s first birthday, Hartland pinned Jasmine to the floor and strangled her after complaining the house was a mess.
He apologised but launched into another savage attack the following day as Jasmine frantically called her mum.
She said: “As he ragged me around, I screamed and said to Mum, ‘Call the police, he’s just hit me’.
“Then my phone died.”
Hartland punched the mum hard in the eye causing her to black out. When she eventually came around, her eye was swelled shut.
The police were called and Hartland was arrested while officers took pictures of Jasmine’s horror injuries.
He pleaded guilty to one count of ABH, non-fatal strangulation and coercive and controlling behaviour but avoided a jail sentence.
How you can get help
Women’s Aid has this advice for victims and their families:
Always keep your phone nearby.
Get in touch with charities for help, including the Women’s Aid live chat helpline and services such as SupportLine.
If you are in danger, call 999.
Familiarise yourself with the Silent Solution, reporting abuse without speaking down the phone, instead dialing “55”.
Always keep some money on you, including change for a pay phone or bus fare.
If you suspect your partner is about to attack you, try to go to a lower-risk area of the house – for example, where there is a way out and access to a telephone.
Avoid the kitchen and garage, where there are likely to be knives or other weapons. Avoid rooms where you might become trapped, such as the bathroom, or where you might be shut into a cupboard or other small space.
If you are a victim of domestic abuse, SupportLine is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6pm to 8pm on 01708 765200. The charity’s email support service is open weekdays and weekends during the crisis – [email protected].
Women’s Aid provides a live chat service – available weekdays from 8am-6pm and weekends 10am-6pm.
You can also call the freephone 24-hour National Domestic Abuse Helpline on 0808 2000 247.
Jasmine said she was left “disgusted” by the result, adding: “He was free to live his life like it was nothing. There was no justice.”
The brave mum launched an appeal and was thrilled when Hartland was sentenced to three years behind bars in June 2023.
She is now campaigning against soft sentences on behalf of domestic abuse survivors.
Jasmine said: “With suspended or community sentences handed out for serious cases, why would an abuse survivor go through the trauma of prosecution if in the end, their abusers aren’t properly punished?
“I want others to advocate for themselves and know they can lodge an appeal if they’re unhappy with sentencing.”
