A COUPLE have appeared in court accused of murdering their two-year-old grandson after he was found with head injuries at their home.

Ethan Ives Griffiths was rushed to hospital after the horror in Deeside, North Wales, but sadly died from a brain injury.

The toddler suffered a head injury at his grandparent’s homeGoogle

His grandparents Michael Ives, 46, and Kerry Ives, 45, appeared at Mold Crown Court charged with murder.

Ethan’s mum Shannon Kayleigh Ives, 27, has been charged with causing or allowing a child to suffer serious physical harm.

She is also accused of causing assault, ill-treatment, neglect or abandonment of a child to cause unnecessary suffering or injury.

Michael and Kerry Ives were remanded into custody to next appear in court on May 17 alongside their daughter.

A provisional trial set to last three weeks has been scheduled for November 4 this year.

The horror unfolded on August 14, 2021, after little Ethan was found injured at the home on Kingsley Road.

He was taken to Liverpool’s Alder Hey hospital but tragically died shortly after.
