An Antepost bet is placed before knowing which horses are even running.

Incredibly, the punter’s four predictions were all later confirmed to be riding in the events as estimated.

They had Tullyhill in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, Ballyburn in the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle, El Fabiolo to win the Champion Chase and Brighterdaysahead in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle.

Had all four comes in as winners, the punter would have been set for a £40k prize.

On the eve of the Festival, however, they opted to partially cash out.

They settled for a cool £10,529.63 pay out.

And after the result of the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, they’ll have been relieved that they did so.

That’s because Tullyhill was beaten by Slade Steel.

The Rachael Blackmore ridden horse stormed to victory ahead of Mystical Power and Firefox.

Tullyhill, meanwhile, could only manage an eighth place finish.

After her win, Blackmore told ITV: “I was always travelling, I didn’t really want to be in front jumping the last.

“But he took me there and battled back so well.

“The yard do some job with all the horses.”
