When was the OJ Simpson car chase?

On June 17, 1994, OJ Simpson led the Los Angeles Police Department on a low-speed chase in his white Ford Bronco.

The LAPD closed in on OJ after he failed to turn himself in that same Friday morning.

At the time, the retired NFL player was considered a suspect in both Nicole Brown Simpson’s murder and Ron Goldman’s murder.

When he failed to surrender, law enforcement contacted OJ’s lawyer Robert Shapiro.

Shapiro provided investigators with the address to where OJ was lying low.

When police arrived at the location, they discovered he was on the run.

Later that day, they officially declared him a fugitive.

By 6 pm that same Friday, LAPD was able to locate OJ because he contacted 911 via cellphone earlier that day.

As cops pursued the former San Francisco 49ers player, the chase was heavily televised by several media outlets.

The broadcast of the pursuit accumulated an approximate 95 million viewers.

On June 12, 1994, both Nicole and Ron were found stabbed to death at the former’s home in Brentwood, California.
