Girl, 16, dies at scene of A14 accident after car collides with lorry in Bury St Edmunds crash

A GIRL, 16, has tragically died after a car crash on the A14 in Bury St Edmunds.

Emergency services rushed to save the teen, who was involved in a collision with a lorry on the westbound carriageway, at around 1.30am.

The horror unfolded between junctions 44 and 43 in the early hours of this morning.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the teen was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for Suffolk Police confirmed: “The incident occurred on the westbound carriageway between junctions 44 and 43 at around 1.30am this morning, Monday 15 April.

“A 16-year-old girl was involved in a collision with a lorry and sadly died at the scene.

“The road was closed in both directions until 6.40am when the eastbound side reopened. The westbound carriageway was reopened at 11.40am.

“Officers are appealing for any witnesses to the collision and asking any motorists driving in the area at the time of the incident with a dashcam fitted in their vehicle, to review the footage for any material that may be of assistance.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact the Roads and Armed Policing Team at Bury St Edmunds Police Station, quoting reference: 37/20659/24.”
