A SCHOOL has been urgently evacuated after a threatening message was sent to the teachers.

Staff at Matthew Moss High School in Rochdale, Gtr Manchester said they’d received an alarming message over email.

The school took swift action to ensure students’ safety.

Parents and members of the public were warned to stay away from the school.

In a post on Twitter, the school said: “Matthew Moss High School have received a threatening message by email and have evacuated the school as a precaution all learners and staff are safe and the police are in attendance.

“Please do not travel to the school at this time to allow police and staff to manage the situation.”

Posting online, a worried parent said: “I haven’t heard anything but my daughter just rang me in a panic saying they are being evacuated.”

Greater Manchester Police said there were no threats found after an investigation was carried away.

In a statement they said: “At around 12noon today (Monday 29 April), officers received reports of a threat being made towards a school on Matthew Moss Lane, Rochdale.

“Officers have conducted a search of the school and found no threat to the school or wider area.”

The school later added: “Police and staff have ensured that the school is safe and all staff and learners are returning to the building.”
