SIR Keir Starmer is to make a commitment to keeping nuclear weapons in a bid to banish the Corbyn era to the dustbin of history.
He will declare Labour the “party of national security” today as he makes a “triple lock” promise on the Trident deterrent.

It includes a vow to build four new nuclear submarines, maintain a continuous at-sea patrol and deliver all future upgrades needed.
Rishi Sunak last week told The Sun Britain would not be safe under Labour, highlighting Sir Keir’s central role during Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership.
Radical leftie Corbyn famously said that he would never press the nuclear button.
But Sir Keir will say: “Labour has changed.
“No longer the party of protest, Labour is the party of national security.”
Sir Keir will also reaffirm commitment to Nato during a talk in the North West.
The party says it is also committed to spending 2.5 per cent of GDP on defence — but has not set out when or how.
Defence Secretary Grant Shapps yesterday said: “Twelve members of Starmer’s front bench, including Angela Rayner and David Lammy, voted against Trident.
“We know Rayner is now making the decisions in Labour, so Starmer’s supposed backing for Trident is meaningless.”
