OSASUNA goalkeeper Sergio Herrera was forced off thanks to a bizarre problem with his kit during the club’s La Liga clash with Alaves on Sunday.

The 30-year-old went to ground several times during the second half of the match with recurring calf issues.

Herrera was eventually substituted with ten minutes to go, although he appeared to be furious about the decision.

And after the match, he explained that the issue was his SOCKS.

In a post-match interview with DAZN, he said: “On other occasions I might have stopped the game and give the team the rest that it needed.

“The truth is that here I had no intention to do so. I was a youth player at this club [Alaves], so if I have disrespected them, it was not my intention.

“If it were up to me, I wouldn’t have asked for the change, I was comfortable, I was really enjoying the game.

“I’ve been complaining all year that the socks put too much pressure on my calves.

“With the heat, the dehydration… I ending up paying for it today. I’ve gave the kit man a right rollicking, truth be told.”

Osasuna went on to win the match 2-0 thanks to goals from Jose Arnaiz and Ante Budimir.

Arnaiz opened the scoring in the 36th minute before Herrera made two excellent saves to keep his side in the lead.

Budimir then secured all three points with just a few minutes left to play.
