A SKUNK who did a bunk was found after a search which saw The Sun dress as a potential mate in a bid to lure her out.

We told on Tuesday how pet Sky — “fully loaded” with defensive pongy spray — had been missing since Friday after the wind blew open an unlocked garden gate.

She was heard calling out in woodland so our skunktastic Sun team turned up to attract her dressed as cartoon Romeo stinkster Pepe Le Pew.

We also tempted Sky with her fave foods — raw chicken and cottage cheese.

But in the end she was found on Tuesday night just 40 yards from owner Sharon Tyler’s home in Christchurch, Dorset.

Neighbour Elise Cursley, 19, spotted Sky scuttling under a van on a driveway opposite Sharon’s home.

Sharon, 55 — a pest technician who has owned skunks for 17 years — said: “The relief to have her back is immense.

“When I saw her I fell to my knees and I was just sobbing my eyes out.

“There were four of us searching at some points, and I had been out searching for six hours every day and night.”

Sharon placed Sky’s bed, with a juicy chicken thigh inside, in woodland near where her cries were heard — but drew a blank.

She went on: “To have her back is the best feeling.

“Thankfully my garden is skunk-proof as long as I don’t forget to lock the gate.”

We celebrated Sky’s heaven-scent return by giving her a read of yesterday’s paper.
