MANCHESTER UNITED fans have claimed Zlatan Ibrahimovic has “ruined his legacy” after appearing to defend the club’s owners the Glazers.

The Swedish forward, 42, spent two years at Old Trafford between 2016 and 2018.

And he excelled for the Red Devils during his first campaign in England.

Ibrahimovic scored 28 goals in 46 appearances, helping Jose Mourinho’s men win the League Cup and Europa League.

He scored twice in the FA Cup final as they beat Southampton 3-2 at Wembley.

And he was widely considered a success during his short spell at the club.

However, he has now enraged supporters with comments about the Glazers – who Man Utd fans are keen to see sell the club.

Speaking on Piers Morgan Uncensored, he said: “I think now in Man Utd, I don’t know, there are some kind of demonstrations about the owners to sell it and that, but just a reminder, the owners are investing.

“It is not like they are not investing because they brought in many players for a high amount of money.

“So I think it’s a little bit wrong saying that they are not doing what the fans expect them to do, then I don’t know what the real reason is behind everything.”

In response, one person said: “Zlatan just lost my respect.”

Another added: “Zlatan massive L man you just ruined what little legacy you had at the club.”

While a third replied: “That’s Zlatans legacy at United done. Was our best signing post SAF. Now he is on the same level as Antony etc .”

The Glazers looked set to sell the club earlier this year as Qatari Sheikh Jassim and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe battled to take over.

But the process has stalled over the last few months amid increased frustration among fans.

Meanwhile, manager Erik ten Hag has also endured a dismal start to the season.

Man Utd have lost six of their 10 games in all competitions – including their last two.

They take on Brentford at home in the Premier League on Saturday, before travelling to Sheffield United after the international break.
