Asher-Smith had to settle for fifth in her semi-final, having seen American Melissa Jefferson finish first in 10.99 seconds.
After the race, she insisted that she was “disappointed” with her performance as she ran the distance in 11.10 seconds.
She told the BBC: “I’m just disappointed because I’m in great shape and have been in great shape all season, I fully expected to make that final, the race wasn’t even fast.
“I know I’m in a lot better shape than that…yeah.
“I just go on to the 200m, but again I’m fully disappointed. I should have made that.”
Asher-Smith will still compete in the 200m which will start on Sunday as well as the 4x100m relay.
Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill has shared her thoughts on Asher-Smith’s reaction.
She said: “One of the hardest things is when you are stood there and you don’t know the reason why.

“Dina felt in good shape, been doing well in training, had good indications but she couldn’t put her finger on what the problem was.”
Four-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Johnson was unsure as to why Asher-Smith was so slow.
He added: “Out of the blocks, she looked very, very tight.
“Look, I saw her run earlier this year and she didn’t look like this.
“Something is happening where she is not moving forward as we expected.
“This race wasn’t exactly fast.”
To make matters worse for Team GB, Imani Lansiquot has also failed to qualify for the final.
