NETHERLANDS hockey star Joosje Burg suffered a gruesome facial injury during this afternoon’s Olympic semi-final match against Argentina.

The 27-year-old was caught in the face by a hockey ball while attempting to defend Agustina Gorzelany.

The match was then briefly paused with two minutes to play in the first quarter while she was treated by medics.

Burg was eventually able to walk off with the help of two physios.

But there was a further delay, albeit a short one, while blood was removed from the pitch.

Incredibly, she was able to continue later in the match with her nose taped up.
