Has Dillon Danis pulled out of the Logan Paul fight?
Dillon Danis has astonishingly hinted that he’s pulling out of his fight with Logan Paul.
30-year-old Danis started training in ji jitsu at the age of 15 and is a black belt under Marcelo Garcia, as part of a generation of grapplers produced by the respected Alliance New York Academy.
In 2016 he was invited to become a coach and main grappling training partner of Conor McGregor ahead of the Notorious’ fight against Nate Diaz for UFC 202.
Danis has been friends with McGregor ever since.
He hasn’t competed in many fights as an MMA fighter, but has an unbeaten record of 2-0 — winning both of his bouts by submission.
He was set to make his boxing debut later this month in a fight against Logan Paul, until his unexpected online activity called the match-up into question.
The MMA fighter tweeted a clip of talking about the pair’s ongoing legal battles, saying: “Logan bragging about lawsuits again he isn’t built for the fight game, this p**** doesn’t deserve me I’m out.”
In response, Logan said on his Impaulsive podcast: “I’m convinced he’s not going to show up.
“The clause is this: If he pulls out because of some sort of injury that he fakes, a doctor of our choosing has to verify the injury.
“And then if he is indeed faking it, he has to pay $100,000. There is a pull-out clause.”
Paul added: “He’s broke. This guy sucks. He’s a parasite of the MMA and combat world.
“That’s why I took the fight initially. If he does show up, I get to be the one. I get to be the one to take an eraser and remove him from existence.
“His name will never be uttered again. He’ll die that night, twice.”
Danis’ stand-in, UFC legend Mike Perry, added to the speculation by tweeting a video of himself saying: “It’s official guys, I’m in.”
SunSport understands Danis is yet to officially withdraw, despite his cryptic social media post and Perry’s claim.
Danis subsequently followed up with another post on X — the platform previously known as Twitter — saying: “Sheesh you all take everything so seriously.”
He later tweeted a picture of himself training along with the words: “I’ll be there fight night everyone can calm down”
And yet another follow-up tweet said: “See you October 14th p**** boy”.
The final post heavily implies that the fight will in fact go ahead as originally planned, despite all the drama.
