Rescue helicopters sprang into action to airlift a number of people away from unstable ground on the A38 near Tarbet.
Thankfully no injuries were reported after the excessive rainfall caused parts of the land surrounding the road to slide away.
The Met Office has issued a trio of weather warnings over the storms.
Yellow warnings for rain are in place across most of Scotland, while a more severe amber alert covers western areas, including Glasgow.
The latter alert warns of a “danger to life” due to flooding, as well as potential power cuts and communities becoming cut off.
Rail services have also faced severe disruption and drivers have been urged to stay off the roads as floodwater runs down the highways.
The band of heavy rain is set to hang over the region throughout tomorrow before dissipating early on Monday morning.
Ruth Ellis, flood duty manager for the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, said: “We’re likely to see extensive river and surface water flooding impacts across those areas.
“Danger to life, widespread property flooding, flooding of roads and disruption to infrastructure is possible.”
South of the border, however, much of the country is enjoying a mild day.
There is very little rain outside of Scotland and temperatures are forecast to peak at 23C in the South East.
The trend is likely to continue through the weekend, with 24C expected tomorrow afternoon.
Going forward, The Met Office forecast states: “Rain across northern Scotland slowly clearing eastwards during the afternoon.
“Elsewhere largely dry and after a murky start in places there will be plenty of spells of hazy sunshine.
“Further rain at times across northern Scotland on Monday, otherwise largely dry, fine and warm.
“Turning colder and windier with rain spreading south from Tuesday.”
The long-term forecast for next week predicts sunny spells from Thursday before a more changeable and unsettled weekend.
