Rooney confirmed he was planning to move back to England to continue his coaching career.

And his son could be giving an indication that Birmingham might be his dad’s next location.

The young footballer was spotted following a host of first-team and academy players on social media.

Birmingham supporters have been debating the topic on social media with many believing the online activity is a definitive suggestion.

Last month Mail Sport reported that the England striker was linked with taking over at Birmingham with current manager John Eustace tipped for the vacant Rangers position.

Birmingham are also part owned by former NFL star Tom Brady who is friends with Rooney.

Brady believes the football icon will be able to attract big players to St Andrew’s and eventually lead the club back to the Premier League.

Addressing his departure, Rooney said: “It’s the right time. I’ve done everything I can to get this club into the playoffs. It’s not a single thing that’s happened. It’s about timing.

Rooney returned to DC United in July 2022 after leaving Derby County.

He was in charge of the Washington-based side for 52 games, racking up just 13 wins and 26 defeats.

Rooney Jnr plays for United’s Under-13s and fans believe he could be the next big thing.

The eldest of four sons has already lifting the Under-13s National Cup North trophy earlier this year.
