Saliba won all of his duels and did not commit a single foul during the match.

He was also not dribbled past at all and finished the match with a 97 per cent passing accuracy.

His performance has been made to look even more impressive with the news he played through the pain barrier at the Emirates Stadium.

According to Saber Desfarges, Saliba needed an injection on order to play due to a toe injury.

The injury has even forced him to withdraw from the latest France squad.

Reacting to the news of Saliba’s injury, one Arsenal fan wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “Nah, this guy is something else. We actually have monsters back at our club.”

Another added: “Pocketed Haaland on his deathbed.”

A third supporter also commented: “He’s such a machine man f***ing hell.”

Meanwhile, one more wrote: “Worth it! What a soldier he was.”

Saliba had been included in Didier Deschamps’ squad for the upcoming matches against the Netherlands and Scotland.

However, he will now remain with Arsenal during the international break, with Jean-Clair Todibo called up to replace him.

The Gunners will hope to have him back fit for their trip to Chelsea on October 21.

Sunday’s win saw Arsenal move above City into second place thanks to Gabriel Martinelli’s deflected strike.

There were heated scenes at full-time, though, with Kyle Walker and Erling Haaland clashing with members of the home side’s backroom staff.

Footage from the end of the match showed the confrontation as the City players headed down the tunnel.

Walker appeared to react angrily after Arsenal set-piece coach Nicolas Jover had tried to shake his hand.
