Who is Jason Holton?
Jason Holton, 33, is from Camberley in Surrey.
He moved into a custom-built council bungalow, fitted with specially reinforced furniture after he became bedbound in 2014.
Due to his extreme weight, he is unable to work, leaving him on benefits including £398 a week Employment Support Allowance and a £451 Personal Independence Payment.
His mother also gets £200 a month to help with council tax.
Holton blames his mental health and bullying at school as being behind his weight gain and said the death of his father when he was three years old also had an impact.
He told TalkTV: “Maybe if I had my father around, maybe there would be rules set to what I’m eating and stuff to stop me putting things and stuff in my mouth. Just eating constantly. Lamb. doner meat, I had a problem with energy drinks.
“I just decided to get 15 of the Monster cans and drink them all in one go. I’ve been making changes which I seriously have for the audience by the way I have been, my diet now it’s not consistent of loads of junk and I’m not changing.
“I believe time’s over for me in general. I’m coming up 34 now. I know I’ve got to try something.”
Is Jason Holton the UK’s heaviest man?
Holton became the UK’s heaviest man after 65st Carl Thompson died in 2015.
He weighs 45st and consumes up to 10,000 calories a day – four times the recommended daily average for a British man.
In 2020 he collapsed and had to be airlifted by crane from his mother’s third floor flat by a team of more than 30 firemen and engineers.
Two years later he suffered a series of mini strokes and a suspected blood clot.
It took two hours to get him to Frimley Park Hospital in a specially-designed ambulance after his huge frame put immense pressure on his internal organs.
In an interview with The Sun, he confessed to being “addicted to food” and said he had “given up on himself”.
He said: “To lose weight I’d have to go on a low-calorie crash diet, like 600 or 800 calories a day, which I’m not capable of because I’m too addicted to food and I’ve got nothing else to do.”
He explained how if he tried to walk there would be too much strain on his head from carrying so much weight
“I never go outside, not even to the garden, and I probably take about 25 steps a day,” he added.
