MILLIONS of Americans are heading to the polls today but seven swing states hold the fate of the US in its hands.

The Sun has produced a live graph that will track each of these all-important places and reveal whether Donald Trump or Kamala Harris have won.

Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania are currently all the states that are too close to call.

Democrats and Republicans have focused their efforts on these areas throughout their campaigns.

They have a combined 93 electoral college votes together meaning whoever takes the majority is likely to push either Trump or Harris across the finish line.

Pennsylvania is especially of interest to both parties as it has 19 electoral college votes.

It is a pathway to the 270 electoral votes needed to secure The White House.

For example, if Harris won Pennsylvania she would likely need just 25 votes to get the win.

If Trump’s camp took Pennsylvania, he would then need 32 electoral college votes if he secures the other states he is already expected to win.

This interactive graph will follow how each of these seven states will go as the votes are counted.

Over 83 million people have had their say through early voting and postal ballots.

Despite this early voting, some states, like Pennsylvania, were not able to start counting postal votes until today.

This means some places, including those crucial swing states, could take longer than expected to count.

Georgia will be the first swing state to close its polls at 7pm ET.

North Carolina will follow just 30 minutes later and the key state of Pennsylvania will close its polls at 8pm ET.

Michigan, Wisconsin, and Arizona will be next at 9pm ET.

Nevada will have its final ballots cast by 10pm ET.

Alaska will round up the 50 states as its polls will shut at 1am ET on Wednesday.

Election battleground analysis with expert David Wasserman

BY Ellie Doughty, Foreign News Reporter

David Wasserman, former editor of The Cook Political Report and renowned election analyst, spoke to The Sun about this week’s race.

He said: “So we’re looking at a very, very tight finish to this race.

“A couple of weeks ago, I might have said that Trump had asserted an advantage.

“We’ve seen, this race swing towards Harris in August and September and towards Trump in October.

“This is the tightest race that we’ve seen in terms of pulling in seven swing states, that I’ve covered in my 17 years of the Cook report.

“Statistically the odds that it’ll come down to less than 10,000 votes in a pivotal state are unlikely, but the past two elections came down to fewer than 80,000 votes across three states.”

Asked if he thought this was possible again in 2024, Wasserman told The Sun: “It is.”
