The Trump family’s American story begins with Friedrich Trump, Donald’s grandfather, who immigrated to the United States from Kallstadt, Germany in the late 19th century.
Friedrich established himself as an entrepreneur, operating restaurants and hotels in the Pacific Northwest and Yukon.
He married Elizabeth Christ, also from Kallstadt, and they became the parents of Fred Trump, Donald’s father.

Fred Trump, born in 1905 in New York City, built upon his father’s entrepreneurial spirit to create a substantial real estate empire in New York.
Fred Trump’s business acumen laid the foundation for the Trump Organization, which Donald would later expand.
The family’s wealth grew significantly during Fred’s lifetime, with reports suggesting he provided substantial financial support to Donald throughout his career.
In 1936, Fred married Mary Anne MacLeod, a Scottish immigrant from the Isle of Lewis, and they had five children together.
