A MAN in his 70s has died after a tossed-away cigarette caused a garden shed blaze.
The pensioner suffered “severe injuries” when the shed caught fire Birches Head Road, Stoke-on-Trent on October 8.

He has now tragically died in hospital, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said this morning.
Cops confirmed that no one else was injured in the accidental blaze.
A statement read: “We were called to an address near Birches Head Road at 12.26pm on Sunday October 8, following reports of a shed fire.
“Crews from Longton, Hanley and Sandyford went to the scene and began work to extinguish the fire using hose reel jets.
“A man, in his 70s, suffered serious injuries at the scene and was taken to hospital by paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service.”
They said he “sadly died” later in the week from his injuries.
“The fire was extinguished and crews stayed at the scene to investigate the cause alongside colleagues from Staffordshire Police.
“It was later deemed accidental after a discarded cigarette had set alight inside the shed.
“No one else was injured and fire crews left the area a short time later.”
