THE Royal British Legion thanked Sun readers for helping smash their fund-raising target on London Poppy Day.
Organisers, led by actor Ross Kemp, had hoped to raise £1million in the capital on October 31.

But when counting finished this weekend, the total was £1,285,000.
Around 2,500 military personnel and RBL volunteer collectors sold poppies at 70 locations.
Among them was The Sun’s Defence Editor Jerome Starkey at London Bridge Station.
We also encouraged our readers to give to the annual Poppy Appeal by scanning the QR code in The Sun.
Poppy Appeal director Lucy Inskip said: “In just one day, we raised £1,285,000 – an outstanding result that beats our £1 million target.
“Such an outcome wouldn’t have been possible without our dedicated colleagues, volunteers and supporters who we want to thank for all their hard work.
“We also want to say a special thank you to The Sun and its readers for their loyal support.
“Every penny counts towards raising the funds we need to continue providing expert advice and practical support to the Armed Forces community – we couldn’t do what we do without the support and generosity of the British public.”
