THE body of a baby has tragically been discovered by police in a field.
Officers swooped on the Ashtons Field in Salford close to a motorway bridge this afternoon.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed the remains of a baby have been found.
No further details have been given but a press conference will take place at 5.30pm.
A forensic tent could be seen in the area earlier today with a large police presence in place.
North West Ambulance Service were also in attendance, alongside forensic officers.
