Video shows the moment a 19-year-old was left to die in Lisbon
His attackers fled the scene
It’s understood Daniel was killed as he tried to defend a friend while a gang were trying to rob a group of British tourists.
Chilling footage shows the 19-year-old being stabbed in the neck with a bottle.
He’s seen stumbling against a wall before collapsing in the street.
Daniel was left bleeding on the pavement as the suspects fled.
He was rushed to São José Hospital but died a short time later.
Police have reportedly told the family that Daniel was attacked by an “English tourist”.
A close family member claimed police are currently hunting a Brit for his murder.
Describing what happened, he told local press: “An Englishman throws a glass bottle at his friend, who breaks it.
“The same individual picks up the pieces of glass and hits Daniel, who stood in front of his friend to defend him.
“The group of Englishmen flee and are chased by Daniel’s friends.
“He was left behind to faint with a friend, as the video shows.”
The family member insisted Daniel was not part of any gang.
“Daniel was not part of any gang,” he said.
“He was born, grew up and still lived in Odivelas.”
A team from the Lisbon Volunteer Firefighters were passing by the scene and desperately tried to help the young man, Correio da Manhã reports.
Commander Débora Alves said their vehicle was then attacked shortly after the stabbing.
“I don’t connect one thing to the other, but, shortly after the murder, a man was arrested for having stoned the window of one of our cars,” she said.
“The vehicle was inoperable after the attack.”
