A TOP US congressman has claimed the “disturbing” UFOs being spotted all over the US are likely to be “spy drones” from China.

Michael McCaul said he believes at least some of the drones buzzing over New Jersey and New York are malicious surveillance from the eastern superpower.

McCaul’s intervention is significant because he is chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

The Republican blasted the information void from Biden’s government, fuming: “We want answers but the response I’m getting is – we don’t know what these drones are.”

He said that Bill Nelson, the NASA administrator, had reports of the drones – said to be the size of SUVs – over “military sites and bases”, which suggests they are “adversarial” rather than “friendly”.

McCaul concluded: “I believe they’re spy drones and the PRC [People’s Republic of China] is very good at this stuff.

“We know they bought land around military bases.

“This would be very consistent with their policy over the past couple years.”

“We’re not getting answers and I think it’s because our government does not know who is behind them and that is very disturbing to me.”

China has not publicly commented on accusations their spy drones are behind the sightings.

The US has been rocked by a flurry of reports of mystery drone sightings in recent days – and the government has failed to provide an explanation, sparking rampant conspiracy theories.

Incoming president Donald Trump said: “Mystery drone sightings all over the country.

“Can this really be happening without our government’s knowledge?

“I don’t think so!

“Let the public know, and now.

“Otherwise, shoot them down!”

The Pentagon and FBI have claimed the drones pose no threat to the public, but have been unable to explain the bizarre phenomenon.

The reported sightings have clustered around the east coast, particularly in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.

Jon Bramnick, a New Jersey State Senator, has accused the government of being “too afraid” to reveal the truth behind the drone wave.

He told NewsNation: “Whatever these drones are doing, the government really doesn’t want us to know.

“What that must mean is they’re more concerned with us getting knowledge and being afraid of that information than having no knowledge and having all these questions.

“There must be something going on that they can’t tell us because they’re so fearful of what the public’s gonna do when they hear what the drones are doing.”

Bramnick disagrees with McCaul, and thinks “there’s no way the Department of Defense does not know what’s going on”.

The first sightings were reported on November 18 in New Jersey, with drones seen near sensitive locations such as Picatinny Arsenal, a military research facility, and Donald Trump’s Bedminster golf course.

Since then, dozens of similar sightings have emerged across the northeast and beyond.

In New York, drones grounded flights at Stewart Airfield and in Brooklyn on Friday after being spotted over the Bronx days earlier.

In Connecticut, drone detection systems have been deployed near Groton and New London following “suspicious activity.”

Meanwhile, in Maryland, former Governor Larry Hogan claimed to have seen “dozens” over his home in Davidsonville.

And in Massachusetts, two men were arrested for operating drones dangerously close to Logan International Airport in Boston.

There are even reports of drones being spotted over US bases in the UK.
