Plane CRASHES in field after take-off from Scots airport as emergency crews race to scene

POLICE Scotland has locked down a field following a plane crash.

Emergency services raced to a meadow near Fife Airport this morning after a light aircraft plummeted from the sky.

Mercy crews in high-vis vests and protective gear scrambled to the crash site amid an ongoing rescue mission.

It is currently unclear how many people were on the aircraft and the extent of their injuries.

A force spokesperson said: “Emergency services are in attendance near Fife Airport after a light aircraft crashed at 11.40am on Monday, 23 December, 2024. Enquiries are ongoing.”

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service blue-lighted two appliances and a heavy rescue unit to the incident.

A spokesman said: “We were alerted at 11.38am on Monday, 23 December, to an incident involving a light aircraft near Kinglassie, Fife.

“Operations Control mobilised two appliances and a heavy rescue unit to the scene to assist emergency services partners.

“Crews remain in attendance.”

It’s understood additional emergency crews arrived at the incident by helicopter.

Fife Airport is located three miles west of Glenrothes and offers light aircraft travel and skydives.
