Regent Street evacuated due to ‘bomb threat’ sparking huge police response with shoppers warned ‘stay away’

A BUSY shopping street in Central London has been evacuated over a reported “bomb threat” with shoppers urged to avoid the area.

Footage has emerged showing a large police cordon and presence of emergency services in Regent Street on Wednesday afternoon.

Multiple premises are understood to have been evacuated as police investigate the incident.

The Sun understands a controlled explosion will take place in the busy shopping hub.

Metropolitan Police has been contacted for more information.

Regent Street, located next to the iconic Oxford Street, is one of London’s main shopping hubs and is home to a number of flagship stores.

It includes the world-famous toy store Hamleys, Burbury and Barbour.
