NON-LEAGUE Tamworth came close to one of the biggest shocks of all-time as they narrowly lost to Tottenham.

The part-timers forced Spurs to extra-time and it took an unfortunate own goal to help them through.

Tamworth, who are 16th in the fifth tier National League, caused Spurs problems throughout.

Winger and Zara shop assistant Beck-Ray Enoru was a threat, sandwich maker Tom Tonks’s long throw panicked them and bricklayer Dan Creaney lead the line with physicality.

“Premier League you are having a laugh” and “you are getting sacked in the morning” chanted the Tamworth fans at Spurs and Ange Postecoglou.

Both teams had chances to win it in normal time.

But in extra-time, Tottenham got the goal as Nathan Tshikuna failed to sort his feet out and turned a low cross into the box.

Dejan Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson then doubled their lead.
