Van Gerwen, 35, had reached the final but was unable to seal his fourth world title.

He is now taking a break from darts and will not be taking part in the Bahrain Masters this week.

Mighty Mike is travelling with his family and has given his fans an update on social media.

He shared a post on Instagram for his 614k followers with a selection of pictures from the holiday.

MVG included pictures of their trip to the famous Pig Island in Koh Samui, Thailand.

One snap shows him posing alongside his wife, Daphne, and children Zoe, 8, and Mike, 5, around a few pigs.

The pigs were rescued from a market and now live on the island Koh Madsum – which has been renamed Pig Island for tourists.

Other pictures show the family enjoying a ride on a boat and travelling in a tourist pick-up truck.
