NICKY HENDERSON’S world-record £1.2million jumps horse will finally make his debut on Thursday – and enjoy a big advantage over rivals.

German Derby winner Palladium will be ridden by Nico de Boinville in the second division of a 2m maiden hurdle at Huntingdon.

The four-year-old colt is as short as 8-1 non-runner money back with some firms for the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham Festival.

Henderson also trains current favourite Lulamba, who gave 10lbs and a beating to Gary Moore’s £500,000 former Flat star Mondo Man at Ascot last weekend.

Lulamba, owned by Joe and Marie Donnelly, could not have been more impressive on his bow for Hendo.

And the performance needs marking up considering the weight he gave away to rivals.

Conversely, Palladium will benefit from a weight-for-age allowance on his first run for Seven Barrows.

Palladium will carry at least 6lb less than anything else in the race owing to his age.

Purchased by billionaire owner Lady Bamford, Palladium last ran last September, when he finished last in a field of six in a Cologne Group 1 on the Flat won by Rebel’s Romance.

Palladium has never raced over hurdles – whereas Lulamba won his sole contest over the smaller obstacles in Auteuil last October.
