A WOMAN found beaten to death inside her flat in a “tragic crime” has been named while the killer that’s “known to her” is still on the loose.

Marianne Kilonzi, 43, was found dead at her home in Woolwich, southeast London, on Friday afternoon after officers had been called to the address.

Police discovered Marianne’s body after they attended the property on Argyll Road at around 5.25pm, following concerns for the welfare of the occupant.

No arrests have been made at the time, although police have said they are hunting for a suspect “known to her”.

Detective Chief Inspector Suzanne Soren, from Specialist Crime South, who is leading the investigation said: “This is a tragic crime and our thoughts at this incredibly difficult time are with Marianne’s loved ones and colleagues.

“We are in contact with her family, who are being supported by specialist colleagues.

“I know this is a concerning time for the wider community and want to reassure the public that whilst we are in the early stages of this investigation, we believe the suspect was known to Marianne and there is no wider risk to the public.

“This is a fast-paced investigation and I would urge anyone with any information to come forward.

“Please call 101 quoting CAD 5231/17Jan or to report anonymously you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

Formal identification has now taken place.
