This rises to 78 per cent among Tory supporters and 77 per cent for Brexit voters.
A fifth do not regard them as a threat and 28 per cent said they “don’t know”.
The Migration Watch survey of 1,851 Brits by People Polling also found 46 per cent regard small boat migrants as “mostly bad” for the country.
Just over a quarter said they were “both good and bad” while just seven per cent said they were “mostly good”.
More than 25,000 illegal migrants have come to the UK across the Channel this year so far.
A majority 52 per cent of respondents also disagreed with Euro judges being able to override the government’s immigration plans.
Chairman of Migration Watch Alp Mehmet said: “Public opinion is quite clear: illegal migrants are mostly seen as bad for our country.
“The government must heed this message and take action to safeguard our nation’s interests and uphold the rule of law.”
