DONALD Trump has tasked longtime war hero pal Keith Kellogg with ending the war in Ukraine in just 100 days.

Decorated war veteran Kellogg, 80, is hoping to finally stop Vladimir Putin in his tracks with help from the new President after Don’s stark threats to Russia in recent days.

The Ukraine war has been ongoing for almost three years with Kellogg hoping to be the man to finally stop Putin

Trump lashed out at the despot and warned he will apply a sling of damaging sanctions on Moscow if they refuse to come to the negotiating table soon.

The Republican stalwart has already said he isn’t afraid of crippling Russia with financial ruin as he branded Putin’s war “ridiculous”.

The threats are believed to ramp up the pressure on Putin to make a deal despite the pair reportedly yet to speak about a ceasefire.

Trump is expected to stay on top of the negotiations after he initially claimed it would only take him days to end the conflict.

But Trump has now tasked Kellogg with finding a solution and said he has 100 days to do so.

Ex-Lieutenant General Kellogg became America’s new special envoy for Ukraine on Monday.

The military man served his country for 36 years before going into politics and is now expected to advise the peace negotiations in 2025.

Kellogg has been a key figure alongside Trump for almost a decade after he was appointed as a chief of staff on the Republican’s highly sensitive National Security role during his first term in office.

The veteran’s return will see him speak to both Kyiv and Moscow as he searches for solutions which suits Trump and his Nato allies.

Trump has put his full faith in the ex-general but his former political colleagues are less certain of success.

They say Kellogg has never been a diplomat so his presence at the negotiating table is unlikely without Trump leading proceedings.

Former White House national-security adviser under Trump, John Bolton, even said he once overheard Don say he likes Kellogg because he “never offers his opinion unless I ask for it”.

Russia is also yet to express any interest in engaging with the 80-year-old by himself.

Instead they feel Kellogg’s role as special envoy is simply a strategic first move in peace talks that Trump will try to control himself, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Kellogg has already voiced his thoughts on how to achieve peace after he met with Trump back in July to hand him a proposal.

It reportedly involved warning Russia that it will drastically ramp up support for Kyiv if they refused to negotiate.

The plan also mentioned freezing battle lines at their current locations and allowing Putin to keep what he has stolen.

The plan has similarities to Trump’s own beliefs on how to bring peace back to Europe.

The President’s personal war plan would see a demilitarised zone drawn down the front line as well as Kyiv agreeing not to join Nato for 20 years.

In exchange, the US would continue to arm Ukraine to the teeth to prevent Putin from invading again.

Within all the talk of a ceasefire, the Kremlin are staying firm that they will continue to fight on the battlefield as long as they keep finding success.

Putin even signalled earlier this week he isn’t in any rush to come to the negotiating table.

But since then Trump has hit back at the tyrant and publicly humiliated him through a social media ultimatum.

In a post on Truth Social, he said: “I’m going to do Russia, whose economy is failing, and President Putin, a very big favour.

“Settle now, and stop this ridiculous war.”

Trump also threatened to put high levels of taxes, tariffs and sanctions on anything sold by Russia to the US.

The strongly worded message ended with Trump saying: “We can do it the easy way, or the hard way – and the easy way is always better.”

Senior Russian officials are yet to respond to the statement with speculation growing over if Trump’s headline offensive will force Putin to negotiate or anger him to the point of no return.

The task now lies with Kellogg and Trump to bring together Kyiv and Moscow and find a resolution to stop the barbaric fighting once and for all.

General Kellogg’s formidable war record

KEITH Kellogg first joined the US military in 1967 and went on to have a stellar 36-year career as a top officer.

His main military service saw him rise through the ranks during the Vietnam War, work closely with the Pentagon during the 9/11 terror attack and give support to the US in Iraq.

His first taste of conflict saw him deployed in the Vietnam War as part of the 101st Airborne Division.

He would go on to qualify as a US Army Special Forces officer and work as a special forces adviser to the Cambodian Army during this time.

He even earned himself a hero status with the American people during the deadly Vietnam War when he bravely attacked the enemy on his own.

A brutal air assault saw several men from Lieutenant Kellogg’s 101st Airborne Division badly wounded and left for dead.

Brave Kellogg stepped up to protect his fellow countrymen and launched his own assault back on the enemies bunker system.

Navigating through the gunfire with a machine gun and grenades in his hand, Kellogg destroyed five bunkers in the valiant solo mission.

His actions earned him a Silver Star medal and kick started his rise through the US military ranks.

Kellogg also commanded the 3rd Brigade, 7th Infantry Division during Operation Just Cause.

Twenty three years on from his first mission Kellogg commanded the 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment.

Due to his decades of success he was then given the honor of serving as the Chief of Staff of the 82nd Airborne Division and then as its Assistant Division Commander during Operation Desert Shield in 1990.

Kellogg also held roles as the Commander of Special Operations Command Europe and the command of the 82nd Airborne Division.

He later retired from the army in 2003 as a lieutenant general.

He was given over 30 prestigious awards during his time in the military.
