AMAD came off the bench to once again inspire Manchester United – but victory could mean the Red Devils facing a TOUGHER last-16 clash.

Diogo Dalot and Kobbie Mainoo slotted home midway through the first half as United cruised into the KO phase of the Europa League.

But now United one team out of Real Sociedad, Galatasaray, AZ Alkmaar and Midtjylland.

In contrast, boss Ruben Amorim might reckon failing to win would have made it easier – with FCSB, Ajax, Union Saint-Gilloise and PAOK the possibilities.

Red Devils left-back Tyrell Malacia picked up an early card for a chopping challenge that left Florin Tanase needing lengthy treatment.

Mainoo then missed a gaping chance from 10 yards.

And Rasmus Hojlund headed a cross from Lisandro Martinez straight at the keeper.

But despite dictating possession, United failed to break though in the first period.

Amorim replaced full-back Malacia and midfielder Toby Collyer with attacking widemen Alejandro Garnacho and Amad for the second period.

Meanwhile, FCSB still struggled to create any momentum, let alone chances.

United midfielder Christian Eriksen swerved over a teasing free-kick that Lisandro Martinez nodded just wide.

And the goal United deserved arrived on the hour.

As so often recently, Amad was at the centre of if, squaring the ball across the six-yard box for Dalot to slot in at the backpost.

Mainoo, who was involved in that opener, then doubled the Red Devils’ lead eight minutes later.

Garnacho pulled the ball back for the England midfielder to slide it calmly home.

Leny Yoro and Casemiro then came on for Eriksen and Martinez, with Amorim knowing the job was surely done.

Now he must hope they haven’t made it harder for themselves in the next round.
