JORDAN HENDERSON has been replaced as Ajax skipper by the oldest player in their history – amid claims the Liverpool icon threatened to go on strike.
Henderson was stripped of the captaincy shortly before Thursday’s 2-1 Europa League win over Galatasaray.

Ajax are reportedly furious the former England midfielder is pressing to join Monaco – on a free transfer.
The 34-year-old is under contract with the Dutch giants until 2026 – after they rescued him from an unhappy six months with Saudi side Al-Ettifaq.
And the issue exploded in midweek.
Henderson was listed as skipper but Ajax instead handed the armband to 41-year-old keeper Remko Pasveer – famous for saving FIVE shootout penalties against Panathinaikos last August.
And the Dutch Telegraaf suggest the dispute with the ex-Sunderland star is running deep.
They reckon Henderson is ready to make it clear he doesn’t want to play for Ajax any more – if his move to French top-flight side Monaco is blocked.
The 81-cap ace is said to have “astonished” Ajax with his desire for a move.
Henderson has regularly voiced his gratitude for the club signing him in January 2024 after he failed to settle in the Middle East.
And although there have been question marks over his form as well as fitness at times, he appeared to be thriving on the pitch this term.
Despite his armband snub, Henderson played the first 77 minutes as Ajax saw off Galatasaray.
Bertrand Traore and Kian Fitz-Jim netted in each half despite the Turkish visitors dominating possession.
On-loan striker Victor Osimhen replied in vain for Galatasaray deep in stoppage-time.
