Cardiff University’s students’ union outlined the ban for its Wednesday club night Yolo in an email sent to all its Athletic Union members, student news website The Tab reports.
The email said: “Due to reckless, dangerous and irresponsible behaviour portrayed by a group of individuals wearing chinos and blue shirts in the Yolo queue on 4th October, a decision has been made to prevent similar attire to be worn to future events.”
It added: “Fortunately, security were able to intervene and safely disperse the crowd, however the situation could have easily escalated into a major incident.”
The SU also asked for anyone who knows the identities of the students, to come forward.
The email concluded saying: “Whilst we understand that this approach might not be favourable with all, until we are confident that those behaviours have been rooted out, we will continue with this restriction.”
The Athletic Union is part of the SU and facilitates the sports clubs at Cardiff Uni.
When you become a member, it makes you eligible to represent the university in a sport.
It is currently unclear what sports club’s members were responsible for the incident but the email was received by all Athletic Union members including Rugby and Hockey.
The union says it has seen a “marked improvement in behaviour in the queue” since the ban was brought in.
