On fourth-and-two, the Eagles lined up to go for it from around midfield.
Jalen Hurts uncorked a pass downfield to AJ Brown that was caught to convert for a first down.
However, the sideline referee tossed his flag to call offensive pass interference and negate the play for the Eagles.
Brown and Trent McDuffie were hand fighting the whole way down the field, but only Brown was penalized on the play.
Instead of a big gain, it was a 15-yard penalty for the Eagles and it forced them to punt.
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni could be seen screaming on the sideline showing his fury with the referee.
NFL fans were also furious with the call, and claimed the game is “rigged” for the Chiefs.
“WOWWW THE REFS ARE STARTING EARLY,” one fan said.
“IVE SEEN ENOUGH TS IS RIGGED,” another fan said.
“Not even 4 minutes into the game and the refs have already rigged this game LMAOOO,” a third fan said.
“They can’t make it any more obvious that it’s rigged,” a fourth fan said.
“And the nfl wonders why every fan is screaming that these games are rigged,” a fifth fan said.
Even Tom Brady shared his displeasure with the call on the Fox broadcast of the game.
While he acknowledged the two players were being physical, he noted that the referees should “let the boys play.”
He added on that he “didn’t like” the call.
The Chiefs ended up punting the ball away after the controversial call, but fans already have a sour taste in their mouths.
