Tragedy after shopper dies at Scots Lidl store as bosses forced to close supermarket

A SHOPPER has died at a Scots Lidl store as bosses closed the supermarket following the tragedy.

Mercy crews raced to the shop on Windmill Road in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, after the alarm was raised around 3:50pm on Wednesday.

The 76-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene despite the best efforts of paramedics.

The branch was closed for the remainder of the day.

Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “At 3.50pm on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 we received a report of the death of a 76-year-old man in a premises in Windmill Road, Peterhead.

“There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson added: “We attended an incident on Windmill Road, Peterhead.

“An ambulance and special operations response team (SORT) were dispatched to the scene.”
