Cannon looked in real discomfort and didn’t arise from the turf as Reed and fellow Mansfield stars checked on him.

Wrexham medics immediately rushed onto the pitch to come to his aid and soon formed a protective huddle around him.

The Englishman subsequently received lengthy medical treatment and was given oxygen.

Cannon, who looked to be wiping tears away from his eyes, was eventually stretchered off at Field Mill.

The score was 1-1 at the time, after Mansfield left-back Calum Macdonald made up for his own-goal in the second-minute.
