Liverpool vs Newcastle preview
Many predicted the title race picture would look different after a weekend that saw Arsenal at home to West Ham and Liverpool at Man City.
And it did. Just not in the way most expected.
Arsenal’s latest crumbling saw Liverpool re-extend their lead at the top to 11 points, having played a game more than the Gunners.
And in truth they were very comfortable in the 2-0 win at the Etihad, with yet another Mo Salah goal and assist for good measure.
The Reds have 11 games left, with crucially SEVEN of those to come at home.
That starts with the visit of Newcastle in midweek, buoyed by their win over fellow top four contenders Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
The Toon trailed early before a stunning four goals in 11 minutes had them in control before the break. Forest rallied with two late goals but it was still a huge win for Eddie Howe’s side.
With the cup final against the Reds to come in a few weeks, this is a chance to stamp their authority and continue their push for Champions League football.

Cody Gakpo returned for the closing stages on Sunday after missing the last couple of games with injury.
With four goals and an assist in the five games prior to injury, he’s turned into a huge player for Arne Slot’s side, allowing Luis Diaz to operate through the middle too.
