Fire eco fools

THE delusional clowns of the “Climate Change Committee” advising the Government may believe they are leading the world towards Net Zero. In reality they are turning us into a laughing stock.

Heeding these eco extremists, as Ed Miliband would prefer, would guarantee us becoming a broke, irrelevant backwater.

So we ask No10:

Why is this useless outfit still bankrolled by taxpayers and not disbanded?

Why is Miliband Energy Secretary?

The world has woken up to Net Zero’s catastrophic cost and is unwilling to pay it.

Battery cars and heat pumps are still far too pricey for most people.

No one seriously thinks paying more to fly off on holiday or cutting out bacon sarnies will save the planet.

The wind has changed.

Yesterday the Government itself ruled out curbs on meat or flying.

In fact today it is likely to approve a major expansion at Gatwick.

BP is refocusing on oil and away from renewables.

It says they’re a worthy aim — but only long-term.

We agree.

Besides, the UK’s tiny emissions are already globally negligible.

Our international influence will be too if we continue alone down the road to ruin.

Veto Chagos

DONALD Trump could do Britain a few favours today . . . like vetoing the inexplicable and insane Chagos Islands deal.

This staggering folly springs from Labour’s desire to bow before international judges, even though they include stooges from Russia and China and a Caribbean grifter demanding trillions from UK taxpayers in slavery compo.

The Chagos debacle would see us pay billions for Mauritius to take over our own territory, exposing our crucial Diego Garcia airbase to Beijing’s spies.

Worryingly, Keir Starmer has not ruled out this vast sum coming from the extra cash he pledged on Tuesday to rebuild our defences.

As he visits the White House he must insist that won’t be so — or stand accused of promising new forces funding under false pretences.

Trump, though, should simply end this fiasco, which threatens US security.

Sir Keir wants him to warm up to a trade deal and exempt us from tariffs.

He can hardly expect either while compromising a key American airbase.

Pay to play

FROM Paul McCartney to Simon Cowell, from MPs across the Commons to The Sun. We are as one.

We know the Government is desperate for AI giants to invest here. But letting them steal songs, novels, news reports and much else without paying will destroy a colossal UK success story:

The media and creative industries.

Those need a cast-iron legal mechanism ensuring easy payment for their material. Don’t let us down, PM.
