Tragedy as woman dies after collapsing inside Wetherspoons pub in city centre

A WOMAN has died after collapsing inside a busy Wetherspoons pub.

Paramedics responded to calls from the Try Dowr venue, in Truro city centre, Cornwall, at around 2pm on Saturday.

Witnesses inside the Lemon Quay pub described how the woman, in her 70s, fell to the floor towards the back of the pub.

Devon and Cornwall Police said CPR was performed by members of the public before emergency services arrived.

The force said she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Her death is not believed to be suspicious and her next of kin have been informed.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “We were called to Lemon Quay, Truro at around 1.50pm on Saturday 1 March where the ambulance service were responding to a suspected medical episode.

“A woman in her 70s was given emergency treatment but was confirmed deceased at the scene.

“Her next of kin have been informed.

“The death is not believed to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
