Scores of police and ambulance crews swooped on the area after the alarm was raised at around 10.30pm.

Officers received reports of a 15-year-old male being found injured on the street.

However, when they arrived, the teenager was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Cops have launched an investigation into the incident and have said that enquiries are ongoing.

The force also revealed that the death is being treated as suspicious at this time.

Detectives have now launched a manhunt to find those responsible for the attack.

Photos from the scene show a blue tent erected along the road, and numerous police vehicles parked in front of it.

Forensic officers were also seen at the scene this morning as a huge section of the area was cordoned off.

Residents are being made to sign in and out of the cordon zone by cops monitoring the scene.

An onlooker told the Scottish Sun teenagers were seen fighting in the area last night before paramedics raced into the street.

He said: “I looked out the window and saw a gang of lads in a skirmish.

“It was three or four against two. They were all young boys.

“They were running in and out of the shadows but you could see them swinging at each other.

“A couple of the boys hit the ground but they were trying to get up and have a go.

“There was no way I was going down to get involved in any of that.

“I lost sight of them and the next thing I knew two ambulances turned up.

“Police were everywhere within minutes. They put up two white tents.”

One man whose flat overlooks the sealed-off street also said that forensic teams were out all night combing through the area.

He said: “The guys in the white suits were there during the night going through everything.

“I stepped outside the house this morning and couldn’t believe it. Everything was cordoned off and there were officers everywhere.”

Another local said: “Police told me there was a disturbance during the night. Don’t know what’s happened but it’s worrying.”

Officers have urged anyone with any information to come forward and speak with them.

They are particularly keen to speak with anyone who has doorbell or dashcam footage of the area from around the time of the attack.

Detective Superintendent Cheryl Kelly said: “An extensive investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding this death.

“Whilst formal identification has yet to take place, we have spoken to the family of the boy and will continue to provide them with specialist support at this distressing time.

“We have been gathering CCTV footage from the surrounding area, which is being reviewed.

“Officers have also been carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the local area and will continue to do so.

“I would also be very keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and anyone who has dash cam, private CCTV or doorbell footage around the time of the incident.

“Any information, or footage, could prove vital, so please do pass it on to officers.”

The force has also said that a large police presence will remain in the area as they carry out their investigations.

Chief Inspector Colin MacLucas, Local Area Commander, added: “I understand that residents in the area will be very concerned following this incident.

“However, I can reassure them we are working very closely with our detective colleagues to establish the circumstances.

“I can also assure them that there will continue to be a visible policing presence in the area.

“I would urge anyone with questions, concerns or information to approach officers who are there to help.”
