HEARTBREAKING tributes have poured in for a “loving dad” who tragically died after a horror crash while driving during Storm Babet.
John Gillan, 56, lost his life after a tree struck the van he was driving along the B9127 at Whigstreet near Forfar, Angus.

The fatal smash happened on Thursday evening as Scotland was battered by powerful winds and heavy rain.
Emergency teams rushed to the rural road after the alarm was raised at around 5.05pm.
Crews worked to save John but he was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Devastated friends and family have paid tribute to John and said he will be “deeply missed” by those who knew him.
In a statement through Police Scotland, his family said: “We are devastated by the loss of John and the circumstances in which he died.
“John was a loving husband to Gaynor, dad to Marc, father-in-law to Natasha, and grandad to Reygan and Finley.
“He was also a loving son to John and Moira, brother to Wendy and a loving uncle, son-in-law and brother-in-law.
“John will be deeply missed by us all.
“Thank you to family and friends for supporting us through this indescribably difficult time.
“We’d like to request that our privacy be respected whilst we grieve for John.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.05pm on Thursday, 19 October, 2023, police received a report of a one-vehicle crash in which a tree struck a van on the B9127 at Whigstreet near Forfar.
“Emergency services attended, however, the 56-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
“There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
Storm Babet claimed a total of six victims as 130mph winds and torrential rain swept across the country causing widespread havoc.
Some 1,250 homes around the UK have been flooded after the storm battered the country for four days, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
