Tributes to Abbie Devanney, 18, after she’s killed in tragic crash that injured 3 others – as teen boy, 17, arrested

TRIBUTES have been paid to 18-year-old Abbie Devanney after she was killed in a tragic crash which injured three others – with a teen boy arrested.

Cops were called to a one-vehicle collision near Leadgate in County Durham at 10pm on Saturday.

Abbie, from nearby Consett, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

She had been a passenger in a blue Ford Fiesta which left the road near the Jolly Drovers pub.

In a statement released today, her family said: “It is with the deepest regret that we announce the death of Abbie Devanney, who was involved in a tragic road traffic collision on Brooms Lane on Saturday. 

“Abbie was a much-loved daughter, sister and granddaughter and will be sadly missed.

“We wish to thank everyone for their support and ask to be left so that we are able to grieve in peace.”

A teenage boy and two teen girls were also seriously injured in the crash and remain in hospital.

Cops arrested a 17-year-old boy over the crash and have released him under investigation.

They want to speak to anyone who may have information about the crash or dashcam footage of the Fiesta.
