A WOMAN in her 40s has been found dead at her home with a man arrested on suspicion of murder rushed to hospital.
Police and emergency services rushed to a property in Skelmersdale Road in Clacton, Essex, at 11.30am today.
Emergency response units were on the scene within five minutes.
But despite the best efforts of paramedics a woman in her 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of murder, said Essex Police.
The force confirmed he was then taken to hospital in a serious condition.
Essex Police said they would remain in the area over the coming days as the investigation continues.
Detective Chief Inspector Rob Huddleston said: “Our thoughts are with the loved ones of the woman who sadly died.
“We know how concerning this incident will be to the local community and I can assure you that we are working diligently to understand exactly what happened.
“Our officers were on the scene within 5 mins of the call coming into to us and worked with our colleagues from the ambulance service to try and help the woman.
“We will be in the area in the coming days.
“Please come and speak to us if you have any concerns or information.
“If you witnessed the incident or have any footage please come forward and speak to us as soon as possible.”
