CHRIS EUBANK JR plans to appeal his “steep” £100,000 fine for slapping Conor Benn with an egg.

Eubank and Benn meet in a middleweight blockbuster on April 26 at Tottenham’s stadium.

But the fight kicked off early at a press conference in Manchester in February when Eubank hit Benn with an egg.

The British Boxing Board of Control confirmed his punishment was a fine of £100,000 – something the boxer plans to contest.

Eubank, 35, told Sky Sports:  “We are dealing with the situation. £100,000 for throwing an egg seems a little bit strong.

“Especially looking at what others have been fined for what would seem to be much more serious incidents over the years.

“I don’t think anyone’s got anywhere close to a £100,000 fine. Tables being thrown, people getting punched in the face, slapped in the face.

“So 100k for an egg, it’s steep. We will deal with the situation.”

The shared history dates back to 1990, when Eubank Sr beat Benn’s dad Nigel before a controversial draw three years later.

Their sons were then due to meet in a 157lb catchweight clash in October 2022 – but Benn failed to pre-fight drug tests.

The unbeaten welterweight tested positive for clomifene – a banned substance known to boost testosterone.

Benn spent three years fighting his case, with the WBC infamously suggesting the failed test could have been a result of “highly elevated consumption” of eggs.

So Eubank’s press conference stunt was in reference to Benn’s failed test.

Benn, 28, had two fights in America at the 154lb light-welterweight limit after his BBBoC licence was suspended.

But his provisional UK Anti-Doping ban was later lifted – allowing him to re-apply for a BBBoC licence.

And Eubank brushed aside Benn’s threatening behaviour towards him, saying: “He’s an aggressive guy.

“He’s an emotional guy. He doesn’t know how to be calm. How to be collected. How to think before he speaks. He’s his father’s son. They’re hotheads.”
