A COMMENTATOR went the extra mile to earn his crust – by belting out a pizza ad jingle live live on TV during a horse-race.

Jerry Hannon already has a cult reputation – as does the catchy slogan from the Domino’s Pizza commercial.

Fans reckon Hannon’s rendition was ‘brilliant’

So when the two went head to head for Wednesday’s ‘Domin OH HOO HOO’ Handicap at Leopardstown, he rose to the occasion.

Not once, but twice!

As the race at the famous Dublin course got under way, his voice soared lyrically as he announced: “At the opening of the Domin OH HOO HOO Handicap.”

And at the finishing line, Hannon again hit a high note at the right time in his delivery.

With a tuneful flourish, he told viewers: “Pass the post at the Domin OH HOO HOO Handicap.”

Fans of the broadcaster loved the way he boldly belted out the line.

“Superb,” said one, while another added: “Go Jerry!”

A third commented: “Jerry Hannon doing Jerry Hannon things.”

And most viewers believe the mike man’s musical moment was simply topping.

Another said hearing it had “made the day”.

And a third might hope he is as good at horse-racing tipping as he is at a more catchy type of prediction.

He wrote: “Jerry Hannon to trend in 3, 2….”

Meanwhile, Himalayan Heights won the race.

But spare a thought for the horse that came sixth.
